History
A summary of Merrin's history can be found on Wookiepedia
Iteration
Merrin is the original canon iteration, brought into Folkmore directly after the events of Jedi: Survivor.
Skills
  • Knife/Spear fighting
  • Nightsister Training
  • Herbal medicine
Canon Abilities
force sensitivity
Like all Nightsisters, Merrin is able to use and sense the Force, though her usage of it differs from that of Jedi or Sith in that they do not manipulate the Force directly, but rather through harnessing the energies of their home planet Dathomir and infusing the magical substance called ichor-- a magical mist that is breathed in and permanently infuses their blood with the energy to wield the Force using rituals, chants and spells.

teleportation
Merrin can teleport herself short distances using her magick, and with some greater difficulty can take another person that she touches with her. She is also capable of creating magical portals via the use of ichor which another person may follow her through if they have a special charm that she’s created. This latter method is energy intensive and rather dangerous and therefore her use of it is limited.

telekinesis
In canon, Merrin is able to lift and hold large stone structures and assist in holding back a large attacking machine with her magick, though the heavier the object the more energy it takes, and again cannot be held indefinitely.

resurrection
Merrin is able to command the dead as zombie-like creatures, though she cannot truly bring them back to life. Once resurrected and commanded the creatures seem to operate under their own power rather than her needing to maintain individual commands, but they do not show much in the way of intelligence beyond persisting in attacking an enemy that they have been set against.

offensive magick
Merrin is able manifest her magick as projectiles or ensnaring tendrils of ichor that she uses in battle to damage or hold enemies in place.

manipulation of earth/stone
Merrin can lift and repair broken rock or earth structures as though healing them, and command the ground to split and reform again. This seems to be separate from her telekinesis as she’s able to actually re-form the ground or structure as though it had never been broken.

cloaking
Merrin is able to make an object or person invisible via a spell which requires a focus and her concentration; it is a spell that requires a large amount of energy and concentration and thus cannot be maintained indefinitely.

minor healing
Merrin finds it far easier to use her magick destructively than to heal, but she is capable of lending strength to others for a time as she did for the Nightbrothers in battle, and performing minor healing of wounds via channeling her magick energy to speed the natural healing process.

Role
physical attributes Animal Form: Merrin will be able shift into a large cat with silver tabby markings, slightly bigger than a housecat -- technically a small Bramble Lynx, native to Dathomir. She is capable of retaining her cat ears and tail in her humanoid form.

non-physical qualities: Merrin has the enhanced hearing and night vision and smell of a feline.

reasoning: In her own canon, Merrin fills a similar archetypal role to the Familiar. Though she begins as something closer to a Myth, and may be capable of attaining Legend status, at her current canon point she mainly serves as a supportive figure to those she cares about.

Her morality is neither strictly good aligned nor evil; though Nightsister magick tends to draw upon the Dark side of the Force, Merrin herself seems neutrally aligned and though her initial drive was for vengeance, she shows an open mind and a kind heart when she begins traveling with the crew of the Mantis. By her current canon-point she has decided to fight the evil Empire mainly by helping those in need, and has set aside her quest for vengeance, preferring instead to assist her chosen family with their individual missions when she can..
